The dream of Heaven – 1993

I wrote this 20 years ago… can’t remember where the inspiration came from then… reading it now, it makes me think of Palestine…

Today, we see a solution,
The promise of a pacific revolution.
And, after so many dark nights,
We wake up to a wonderful sight.

The world has listened to our screams,
Enabling our wildest dreams
To reach out and fly across the sea,
Just as our determination to be free.

And to share our joy and forgive.
After all, we still believe
Someone up in the skies,
Protects us with loving eyes.

Listens to what we say,
Pays attention when we pray,
Blesses our human heart,
So the world won’t fall apart.

The dream of Heaven: let’s make it true,
You loving me, I loving you.
All creatures in harmony together,
Living peacefully, ever after.

  1. The Nobel Peace Prize 1993 was awarded jointly to Nelson Mandela and Frederik Willem de Klerk “for their work for the peaceful termination of the apartheid regime, and for laying the foundations for a new democratic South Africa”, but the occassion and source of inspiration could very well have been that the Oslo I Accords were signed on 13 September 1993 at a Washington ceremony hosted by U.S. President Bill Clinton.
