“30e Festival International de la Poésie de Trois-Rivières”

After surpassing an unbelievable amount of obstacles, I can now share the happy news of my participation in the “30e Festival International de la Poésie de Trois-Rivières”. Having survived my first 2 weeks in insanely hot Xiamen – which consisted essentially of lines, forms and some crying, with an awesome opportunity to teach international law to graduate students in between – I traveled to Canada on October 2nd to cater for the poet inside me. So I’m now here in this enchanting town in Québec breathing poetry (and French) 24 hours a day for the entire week. Participating in the fest are poets from different corners of the world. Activities in the program include poetry workshops, lectures, readings, exhibits, interviews, dinners, receptions, parties, and so much more! From hour to hour, we’re feasting in ideas, perspectives, inspiration and, of course, excellent wine.
The photos in this post are of two of the poems I’ll be reading during the festival – ‘Terror’, in its original English text, and ‘Strip’, in its French translation.
Thanks for joining me in this poetic journey!
